Tamsyn Release Empowering, Thought Provoking Single 'Ellie O'

With sounds that echo the likes of The Cure and The Smiths, and the lyrical prowess that accompanies the delicate, emotive topics, Tamsyn have composed a track with the perfect balance.

The genre blending, 5-piece from Manchester have kept us a float throughout lockdown with their latest single Ellie O, released back in February. This track encapsulates a strong, empowering message. Seeming to follow the narrative of a young women ‘Ellie’, whilst touching on topics which become apparent throughout most peoples adolescence - questioning sexuality and enduring societal pressures, all making this track an emotive and relatable one.

Having formed back in 2016, Tamsyn have taken this time to cultivate and perfect their sound. Ellie O holds a sweet, very chilled melody, something Tamsyn seem to achieve with every release. This Manchester based band are successfully developing a strong sound and image, now allowing them establish a name outside of their hometown.

Tamsyn have cultivated a catchy, thought provoking track with Ellie O. With strong vocals from the lead, accompanied by those sweet melodies, and everything which gives Tamsyn their unique sound - heavy riffs and a steady tempo, all make for a great track.

What is especially interesting about this latest track is the way it follows the narrative of a female character named Ellie, but the band is made up of four males. It is widely known that the representation of women within the music industry is far from equal - Ellie O represents a powerful young woman, sending a positive message. This is a clever and interesting take on the topics this song portrays, making this an even more powerful, intimate track.

The catchy, nostalgic sound present throughout the track makes for such a chilled listen - similar to their previous releases, Ellie O is uplifting and poetic, keeping that theme of story-telling throughout their work. All this demonstrating the bands talent and potential.
