My Top Skincare Recommendations

8 Products I Recommend to Achieve Clear, Healthy Looking Skin.

This weeks post is a little bit different to what I’m used to;  I’ve been wanting to branch out and write about everything that interests me as well as music, one of those things being Skincare.

I have suffered with my skin for years, I feel like we all have to some extent. After plenty of trial and error and even medication, I feel like I’ve finally figured out what works for me. This week I want to share with you my top 8 products which have worked wonders for my skin.

These products range from both high-end brands, as well as drugstore. As I said previously, I’ve trialed a fair few products over the years, and one thing I have learnt in most cases is, the more you spend on skincare the better it is… it’s the sad truth for your wallet but it’s true (in most cases) You have to see these purchases as an investment.

I’m going to start with expressing my love for Liz Earle products, starting with the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. This product has been a staple in my skincare routine for around 3 years now. Liz Earle products are made from natural ingredients and are cruelty free (always a bonus) I use this cleanser every evening, and it’s amazing at removing your make up. I even use a small amount of this product to cleanse my bare skin after a day of no make-up; as your pores can get clogged even on those make up free days.

The Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic is next, again made of natural ingredients, and this stuff is great at removing any excess oils from your skin - I tend to use this at night after I’ve cleansed, and it is brilliant at calming the skin, these products also smell amazing!

And finally, I highly recommend the Balancing Gel Mask. I tend to only use this product once a week, as my skin is pretty sensitive and I tend to break out if I use too many products. This mask is a clear, gel mask and is super cooling on application. Leaves your skin looking refreshed and dewy, whilst evening out your skin tone.

The next product I recommend is a drugstore product, Garnier’s Micellar Oil-Infused Cleansing Water. Now when I first purchased this product, I wasn’t too sure about the high oil content as my skin type is combination, but my skin loves this cleanser. I use this to double cleanse after my Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish product (another massive tip when removing make up, DOUBLE CLEANSE) It seems that the high oil content balances out my skin and keeps it hydrated, and it’s only around £7.

Whilst we are on the topic of cleansers, my next recommendation would be to purchase a Vitamin C Cleanser. I purchased this OFRA Foaming Cleanser from Beauty Bay and I wasn’t too sure at first, but this product is great. Available for £16.95, I use this every morning however, it can be quite drying on the skin, so only a small amount is needed.

Including Vitamin C in your skincare is great as it acts as an antioxidant, brightening your complexion, making it great if you have acne scars like myself.

Whilst on the topic of Vitamin C, I most recently took a chance and purchased a couple of products from Superdrug. The first being a Brightening Vitamin C serum, which I have used every day for almost 2 weeks now, and my skin is looking the best it’s been in years. This Serum leaves your skin looking super dewy, and I feel this has really helped with the slight acne scaring on my face. I use this product in the morning, after cleansing with the Vitamin C Foaming Cleanser.

The next product is a Brightening eye gel, from the same line as the serum. This eye gel is infused with Jojoba Oil. I’ve also been using this every day, and it has really helped with lightening the dark circles under my eyes, it is also very easy to apply as it is a roll-on applicator.

As stated previously, I would highly recommend these two products if you suffer with slight acne scaring and red/uneven skin tones. These products have really helped to even out my skin tone and create a dewy complexion - perfect for those no make-up days.

The final product I recommend is completely free… and it’s Water. Over the past couple of months, especially during lockdown, I have made a conscious effort to drink more water each day. I cannot explain the benefits this has for your skin. I drink at least 3 bottles a day and it has aided my clear skin massively, as well as having multiple other health benefits. I know everyone says it, but what you put into your body really does play a huge part on your skin. So, more water is definitely key!

I hope this helps you if you’re struggling with your skin, as I know it can be a huge problem with regards to self-confidence. All products mentioned have been linked throughout.
