After the bold decision to go it alone and the success of his debut single Not The Same Anymore, Red Shakes seems keen to express his talent with the release of his latest single Your Love Today.
Red Shakes (Sam DaSilva) is back with his
second single as a solo artist, and it’s safe to say he seems to be thriving. After
reviewing this guy’s previous single, this latest track titled Your Love Today, follows a similar style to that of Not The Same Anymore. This
is what I personally like to see in an artist, consistency and individuality
- Red Shakes demonstrates both with this release.
With lyrics like “I don’t want to be friends//Why should this have to end” and “why are you far away” It seems Red Shakes is describing a long-distance relationship and a sense of mourning for a lover. These emotive lyrics
are coupled with an upbeat and catchy tune, offering a great juxtaposition. Coupled with the strong guitar riffs and fast paced drum sequences, makes for an overall great track. An easy, light-hearted listen, whilst writing with a sense of heartache.
DaSilvas song writing
and production skills complement each other throughout this track, which can be hard as a one-man
band. Reflecting similar themes from Not The Same Anymore, it’s safe to say
that Red Shakes seems happy with his direction and current sound.
It’s not just the track we are loving but also the Artwork.
As an artist one of the most important parts can be the image you portray. Artwork
is a great insight in to the overall vibe of the track – so we’re loving this
3D, vintage effect Red Shakes has got going on! It's very fitting.
Your Love Today is a great follow on from his
debut single. Confident with his sound and having seemed to have found his identity
as a solo artist quite early on, and this single demonstrates that. It’ll be
interesting to see how Red Shakes sound evolves, and how he will develop it further.
With two fresh singles under this belt, I’m looking forward
to see what Red Shakes comes up with next!
Your Love Today was released on April 17th and is
